In the heart of the historical Alicante countryside Jacarilla is hidden from the busy centres of popular tourist resorts and nestles in the glorious country side of the Vega Baja, surrounded by orange and almond groves. There are plenty of perfect walking or cycling opportunities. It is a small location where everyday life meanders hand in hand with tradition and tranquility - view the locals chatting on their doorsteps in the late evening as you leisurely stroll around the village. This is the taste of the Real Spain.


An outdoor market selling local produce is held each Friday on the village square. Jacarilla's religious festival is held every September and is a wonderful local sight. The gem of Jacarilla though has to be the historic palace and formal gardens of the Marquis de Fontalba - of which this property has the most unique views. Strolling among the gardens is idyllic and many Spanish weddings can be seen taking place in these gardens. There is also a small bird sanctuary in the gardens which forms as the highlight of a daily walk for many Spanish locals of all ages.


The village has local shops selling traditional crafts, a weekly market, banks, butchers, several bakeries - necessary for those fresh baked pastries and bread for breakfast, tapas bars where you can be tempted by the local delicacies whilst watching the locals play board games and some local authentic Spanish restaurants. This is a tiny part of the Real Spain and all within walking distance of the penthouse. Also within the village is a large well maintained Leisure Park with swimming pool, tennis courts, front tennis and a football pitch - our children play 5 a side football against the local children. Within ten minutes drive is a large well stocked hypermarket which has the most magnificent fresh fish display. A wider array of other restaurants can be reached within minutes by car.


The horse riding at the nearby Salt Lake is breathtaking and there are also quad biking activities for the more adventurous as well as several water parks. Just 30 minutes form Alicante airport and 25 minutes from Murcia airport, we can arrange airport transfers if required and a chauffeur service for shopping.
